A Chara,
We are now into a new year and having been honoured as Chairman I am writing to inform and update you of the workings of the club.
For those of you who are not aware, St. Colm’s GAC proudly boasts having 25 teams from the four codes; Football, Hurling, Ladies Football and Camogie. Many players have all respectively had success at various levels, both club and county over the years and the club is very proud of them.
The Club had 250 members last year which is a positive attribute, not to mention 500 underage members. New members are always most welcome. It is you the members that make your club. Without you St. Colm’s GAC Ballinascreen could not exist.
I would like to highlight some of the issues that arise in the club each year. Firstly, all teams need coaches and managers of the highest standard. St. Colm’s have always been extremely fortunate in this area with dedicated managers in place; however, more volunteers are needed especially at underage level. All our club coaches will have obtained child protection and various other coaching certificates before training players.
Last year it cost the club an astounding £54,000 to run all your teams. Transport and equipment prove to be the main financial burdens. A large part of the revenue needed is generated from the kitchen and bar by voluntary members and I would ask if you could give any help with this to please do so. It is not a commitment you have to make on a regular basis, just as and when you can.
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members and local businesses for the continued support you have given me in this position over the last two years and look forward to this continuing. I wish every player who wears Ballinascreen colours in 2007 the very best of success.
Is mise le meas
Lawrence Cleary
